Activity Description
Lupus nephritis (LN) is a serious renal manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease affecting multiple organ systems. LN is associated with substantial morbidity, diminished quality of life, and a significant healthcare burden that often leaves patients feeling overwhelmed and isolated. While early diagnosis and timely intervention are critical to prolonging kidney function and improving patient outcomes, LN may elude clinician detection until irreversible damage has occurred, due to its often subtle presentation.
The therapeutic armamentarium has expanded rapidly with the development of novel agents that target molecular pathways integral to SLE pathophysiology and help prevent progressive renal complications. In this continuing education program, expert faculty will review evidence-based approaches for early detection and monitoring of LN, summarize the latest data on the evolving therapeutic landscape, and discuss insights gained surveying patients on their treatment journey and overall experience with SLE.
Target Audience
The intended audience for this activity is physicians and advanced practice providers specializing in nephrology, rheumatology, or primary care and involved in the management of patients with SLE or LN.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Describe evidence-based strategies for timely monitoring and detection of LN in patients with SLE.
- Outline guideline-recommended treatment plans for patients with LN that reflect patient goals/preferences.
- Summarize shared decision-making and interprofessional/multidisciplinary strategies to improve care coordination for patients with SLE or LN.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.25 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
Participants who opt-in by providing their ABIM ID and DOB (MM/DD) will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.

How to Participate in This Activity and Obtain CE Credit
To participate in this activity, you must read the objectives, answer the polling and pretest questions, view the content, and complete the posttest and evaluation. Provide only one (1) correct answer for each question. A satisfactory score is defined as answering 3 of the 4 posttest questions correctly. If a satisfactory score on the posttest is achieved, Vindico Medical Education will issue an AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ or AAPA Category 1 CME credit certificate.
In addition to providing a downloadable certificate, CME Providers accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) have the ability to transmit CME credit data for all US physicians to an online repository, the ACCME Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS). CME credit data submitted to PARS can be viewed, managed, and tracked by US physicians in "CME Passport," a free, centralized web application. US Physicians who opt-in by providing their medical license number, state of licensure, and date of birth will have their credits automatically reported to the ACCME.
