Activity Description

Geographic atrophy (GA) is the advanced form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), whose progression results in an irreversible decline in visual acuity. In 2023, the FDA approved 2 novel intravitreal complement inhibitor therapies, allowing for the personalized, long-term management of patients with GA secondary to AMD. Both agents slow the growth of GA over time, highlighting the essential role of multimodal imaging for the early diagnosis of GA as well as the monitoring and detection of biomarkers associated with disease progression. In this CE monograph, experts in the field review the latest pathophysiological findings regarding GA secondary to AMD, assess advanced imaging tools for the diagnosis and monitoring of disease, and evaluate individualized treatment strategies with novel evidence-based therapies. Real-world case presentations will illustrate application of the content into clinical practice.

Target Audience

The intended audience for this activity is retina specialists and comprehensive ophthalmologists involved in the management of patients with or at risk for GA secondary to AMD.

Provide only one (1) correct answer for each question. A satisfactory score is defined as answering 7 of the 10 posttest questions correctly. If a satisfactory score on the posttest is achieved, Vindico Medical Education will issue an AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ certificate.
